Set in contemporary Washington, Senator Scrooge reimagines Dickens' classic as the story of a jaded, bad-tempered U.S. Senator forced to confront his past, present, and future to rediscover his capacity for redemption.
What would happen if Ebenezer Scrooge ran for office and won? Washington gave us a perfect, funny, and very human backdrop for a story about power, greed, and the possibility that even the most cynical among us can change.
The production offers performers and audiences the rare opportunity to collaborate directly with the original creative team on a musical that has never been staged.
The musical features a contemporary, diverse company including Roberta Cratchit, Scrooge's powerhouse secretary; a rock-singing, rapping Senator Marley; and three Christmas ghosts who are as surprising and different as they are unforgettable.
The roles of Senator Scrooge and Jacob Marley will be performed by Broadway luminaries Rob Evan (Jekyll and Hyde, Rocktopia, Trans-Siberian Orchestra) and Danny Zolli (Jesus Christ Superstar).
